This corridor (one of only two completed so far) begins at the northern tip of I-575 at the Cherokee-Pickens County line. Most of this highway was new four-lane "near interstate quality" divided highway that was constructed during the 1980's and 1990's through Pickens, Gilmer, Fannin, and Union counties in northwest and north-central Georgia.
U.S. Highway 76/State Route 2 follows this corridor from Ellijay up to Blue Ridge and then shoots eastward to Blairsville, where the four-laning ends.
The State Route 515 designation continues along US 76/SR 2 until it reaches SR 17 in Towns County (between Young Harris and Hiawassee). At that point, it follows SR 17 for one mile, finally ending at the North Carolina state line.
Oh yeah.... I forgot to mention that our "good ol' boys" under the Gold Dome, in all their infinite wisdom, has dubbed it the Zell Miller Mountain Parkway, in honor of Georgia's current Governor and Young Harris native son. At a rest area near the southern end of this highway, there's even a bust of Governor Miller. If I ever make it up that way, I'll get a picture and show it to y'all.
TOTAL MILEAGE FOR SR 515: 76 (approx. 122 km)
